CRWP and Chugach National Forest Partnership

What do CRWP and the Chugach National Forest Service have in common? The drive of both entities is to be stewards of the magnificent land, wildlife, recreation, and subsistence resources while contributing to healthy, vibrant communities! More than that, approximately 8% of the land that falls within the Copper River watershed is actually the Chugach National Forest Service land, which spans over 6.9 million acres. A vast wilderness to enjoy.

That is why we have partnered together to work on various fish passage improvement projects and habitat restoration for salmon. By 2023, the CRWP, Chugach National Forest, and our other partners will have replaced 12 culverts with fish-friendly culverts on the Copper River Highway. We are also working together to facilitate education opportunities at the Crooked Creek visitors center in Valdez, Alaska – gateway to the Copper River watershed.
