TAKE ACTION!

The weir needs to be replaced to maintain Eyak Lake. After the 1964 earthquake uplifted Cordova nearly 6 feet, the weir was installed to maintain lake levels and keep the nearshore Sockeye Salmon habitat underwater. Over 50 years later it is failing. Complete failure will result in most of the lake draining, exposing spawning beds, reducing lake habitat for aquatic organisms, and eliminating our emergency drinking water source.
The Eyak Lake Weir Project Needs Your Help!
The Eyak Lake Weir replacement project is ready to move forward, but State funds are needed to fill a funding gap to get it to completion.
✅ Designs and interested contractors are ready to install a low-maintenance structure that will maintain lake levels, improve connection between the lake and the river, and help sustain the lake that is the heart of our community.
✅ The City of Cordova is stepping up to take over ownership, which has been uncertain since the state agency who oversaw construction was shut down.
☑️ Secure State funds to fill the funding gap to get this project through to completion!
