2010 Youth Environmental Summit a success!

Cordova high school students Shannon Lindow and Nicole Peterson help Janelle Eklund from Wrangell Institute of Science and Environment prepare for a native plant activity.

Many partners came together in Copper Center the week of May 25th to put on the 2010 Youth Environmental Summit (YES).  Over the course of the week, students in grades K-8 were involved with a variety of hands-on activities, helping participants better connect with Copper River salmon and the entire watershed it takes to support healthy salmon populations.  All students walked away understanding that it takes an entire watershed to raise a salmon!  For more information on this event, or to find out how to get involved in 2011 YES, contact Clair Scribner, Gakona Native Village, (907)822-5777.
