Wild Food & Films the theme of CRWP events
The annual membership events of the Copper River Watershed Project
Each fall in Cordova, and winter in the Copper Basin, the CRWP hosts an annual gathering to celebrate the watershed with members, partners and friends from both upriver communities and Corodva. These events bring together residents of the watershed to learn about the organization's new and exciting projects and to celebrate the subsistence lifestyle of the region.
A Wild Berry Cook-off is the main event in Cordova, with prizes awarded for best drink, appetizer, entree, dessert, most creative and best in show--all including local wild berries as an ingredient. A Berry Patch Walk and Silent Auction of homemade jams and liquors round out the evening.
A Wild Food Feast was the main event in Glennallen, with prizes awarded for dishes made from ingredients that flew, grew, walked or swam in the watershed.
This past year, CRWP was pleased to host the Wild Berry Festival in conjunction with Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival.
The Wild and Scenic Film Festival was started by the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL, pronounced 'circle') to promote community building within the Yuba Watershed, as well as a way to explore environmental issues through an exciting and influential medium. For more information on the film festival, click here. The Copper River Watershed Project is pleased to have the opportunity to host this festival in order to raise awareness for issues and exciting projects happening here in the Copper River watershed.
