Cordova 7th Graders nominate Odiak Pond to Anadromous Waters Catalog

Cordova 7th Graders nominated Odiak Pond and stream to the State of Alaska's Anadromous Waterways Catalog.  After confirming that coho salmon are using this waterbody for spawning and rearing, they had the data necessary to urge the State to list this waterbody in the catalog.    Waterbodies listed in this catalog receive special protection from future developments and human activity.  Just before the school year ended, a representative from the Alaska Department of Fish & Game confirmed the nomination was accepted.  Way to go Cordova 7th grade class!  Visit our Odiak Pond webpage to learn more about the project and to view the students short films about the pond, their project, and how we can all live as better neighbors to salmon!
