This is a great time to do a pre-summer season gear check and clean your outdoor gear to eliminate invasive plant seed hitchhikers.

Our Watershed Stewardship Program Manager, Amanda Jackson, attended the Wrangell Institute for Science and Environment (WISE) Gear Swap last month to do some outreach on the importance of cleaning outdoor gear. If you didn`t get a chance to talk with Amanda at the Gear Swap, you can check out the Play Clean Go https://playcleango.org and Clean Dry Drain https://www.fws.gov/story/clean-drain-dry programs to learn more.

Stopping invasive seeds from starting in the Copper River watershed is the most important part of invasive plant management.

Join us for a presentation Thursday, April 4, 7-8pm hosted by the Prince William Sound Science Center through their Tuesday Night Talk Series.

Get an update on the current design of this site, and help us brainstorm ideas to overcome the biggest hurdle we’re facing with the Eyak Lake Weir project — ownership.

Since 2020, CRWP has been facilitating a group of partners to be pro-active in upgrading the Eyak Lake weir structure to maintain current lake levels and improve the movement of fish between the lake and the river, ultimately improving the productivity of this valuable habitat.

Without overcoming the ownership hurdle, we’ll be unable to move the project forward. If left unaddressed, we are likely to see a significant lowering of the lake levels as the weir continues to fail, reducing the productivity of this valuable salmon habitat, changing property lines and values, and compromising access to our backup drinking water source, among other changes.
